Chloe stepped outside carrying a tray of lemonade. Four months earlier, she and Nora had moved into the guest house on my property, and over time we had created a quiet rhythm that felt less like three people surviving the same tragedy and more like a family learning how to live together.
Nora suddenly came running toward me with both hands carefully cupped in front of her.
