At 9:12 that morning, Arthur kissed my forehead and said he had an emergency meeting.

He wore the navy suit I had bought him for our tenth anniversary.

“Don’t wait up,” he said.

I smiled. “I won’t.”

The moment his car disappeared, I opened the tracking application connected to our shared family account. Arthur drove straight past his office and stopped outside Bellamy Jewelers.

I already knew why.

For six months, he had been sleeping with Genevieve Vance, his company’s glamorous marketing director. He thought I was too exhausted from raising our eight-year-old son, Ethan, to notice late-night calls, hotel receipts, and perfume on his shirts.

“Is Dad coming with us?” he asked quietly.

At four, Arthur returned carrying shopping bags from luxury boutiques. Surveillance footage later showed him humming as he entered the house.

“Where are you?” he shouted.

I heard paper tearing.

His breathing stopped.

The photograph showed Arthur and Genevieve leaving a hotel with Harrison Drake—the government contractor whose bribery investigation was already making headlines.

“You took the wrong woman for a fool,” I whispered.
